Who are we looking for?

This is an exciting time to join St Peter & St James Hospice. In April we launched a new strategy to support our ambition to provide exemplary care and support to everyone in our community who needs us.

As a key member of the Executive Team, you will be a strategic thinker and planner, who can translate theory into practice, think critically about our services and strive for excellence in all we do. You will be an effective communicator, relationship builder, and influencer to complement and enhance the existing team. You will be responsible for providing expert advice and assurance to the Chief Executive, Board, and wider hospice team on matters relating to palliative care.

To be successful within the role you will inspire loyalty, intervene proactively, and collaborate effectively to the possible outcomes for with life-limiting conditions. You will lead and promote a culture of putting patients and families first.

We are looking for a clinical expert with a passion for improving care for people living with life-limiting conditions (and those close to them). Our ideal candidate will be a confident, visible, decisive leader who will support, develop, and empower our teams to deliver high quality care and embed a dynamic culture of learning which ensuresenquiry, responsibility, and professional accountability.


  • Executive Team Reports to: Chief Executive
  • Direct report(s): Lead Consultant, Head of Quality, Head of Nursing, Head of Supportive Care
  • Pay band: £63,000 – £68,000 per annum
  • Rural Location (North Chailey BN8 4ED) own transport essential, no public transport
  • DBS check Enhanced
