Who we are looking for

St Peter and St James Hospice is looking for Palliative care assistants to support our community team. This exciting new Hospice role will support patients in their own homes to live as fully as possible with their life-limiting condition. As a Palliative Care Assistant (PCA) you will be the eyes and ears for the Registered Professionals in the community team who hold responsibility for the patient’s care.

Our specialist community team provides care for people with complex symptom management due to life limiting illnesses within the home setting and support to carers of the individual.We are looking for someone who is self motivated, caring and kind with excellent communication and listening skills who is adept at recognising when patients’ conditions change

Community experience/Palliative care experience is desirable but not essential


  • Full time (37.5hrs) – option to job share
  • Day shifts Monday to Friday including some weekends
  • Salary Band 3 (£20,132 to £21,566 FTE)
  • Enhanced pay for working unsociable hours – weekends and bank holidays
  • Working within the community, rural and town locations and office located in North Chailey
  • DBS Enhanced and Barred
