These are extraordinary times, and you are extraordinary people!
I would like to say a huge thank you, on behalf of everyone at St Peter & St James Hospice, for your amazing support this Christmas. So far, our Christmas Appeal has raised over £50,000, which really will help our patients and their loved ones have the best possible Christmas together.
We are so very grateful for the wonderful support you have shown your local community this Christmas. From all of us here at St Peter & St James Hospice, we hope you have a happy and peaceful Christmas together with those you love.
Best wishes, Trina

2020: A year like no other. We need your support!
Hello, my name is Trina, and I am the Head of Community Nursing here at St Peter & St James Hospice. 2020 has been a year full of new challenges here at the hospice, and I think we have all learnt that a little bit of care, kindness and companionship really goes a long way, both in life and in death. I have been humbled to see how our local community has pulled together, and I am very proud of our whole nursing team for working incredibly hard to keep going, and making sure we can be there for those who need us. However, now, we need you.
Sadly, this year, we have seen the condition of many people deteriorate more sharply than it should as a result of Covid-19, meaning there is now more reliance on my team than ever before. It is no exaggeration to say that my team is exhausted, but we are nurses; we signed up to care for people, whatever it takes. When people are at their most frightened and isolated, especially this year, I know that our continued, personal support is more important than ever.
As a charity, we rely on your generosity to cover over 80% of the hospice’s running costs. At the moment, all of our shops are closed, and we continue to face an unprecedented loss in income. However, we still have a lot of people in the local community who need my team to be there for them. We still need to see our patients, check their symptoms, review their care needs, and have a comforting chat with their family.
