We’ve always been astounded by the incredible kindness and generosity of the St Peter & St James Hospice community, but this past year – more than ever – has highlighted just how compassionate and generous people can be.
In honour of our lovely supporters across Sussex and beyond, we publish a monthly round-up celebrating some of our hospice community heroes: a snapshot of just a few of the brilliant people making our work possible. We would love to say a heartfelt thank you to this month’s heroes, and also extend this outwards to the hundreds of others who stand with us in being there for local families living with terminal illness.
Merlin Workwear has printed names and messages free of charge and very quickly on our running vests for many years now, and we would like to thank them for all their support over the years. This means that when any of our supporters are taking part in an event, not only do spectators recognise our vests but can cheer people on by calling out their names!
Thank you Merlin Workwear, we greatly appreciate what you do for us!
During lockdown, the incredible Imogen Ward drew pictures and sold them from her front garden raising money for the hospice. Imogen and her family came along to our Open Garden in July where she handed over the money, and of course met the donkeys!
Thank you Imogen, what a brilliant idea. Well done!
The marvellous Monday Group have generously helped us out recently by providing us with two new stiles on our donkey paddock. The Monday Group is an organisation founded in 1961, consisting of volunteer workers in the heart of Sussex. They build and maintain stiles and other wooden structures on public rights-of-way, as well as working to keep them clear of obstructions and overgrowth. They respond to requests from members of the public, land owners and local authorities to help provide easier access to our beautiful countryside, and their work can be split into two main categories:Structures: Construction and installation of stiles, gates, causeways, steps and sign-posts.Clearance: Clearing rights of way to make them more easily accessible. This is a photo of the Monday Group that helped us out: Jim Edwards, Bob Page, Jim Redheed, Steve Lineham and John Shill.
We would like to give a huge thank you to the Monday Group for their time and kindness, and for keeping our donkey paddock looking smart!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everybody featured in this month’s hospice community heroes round-up, we are always amazed by your kindness and generosity and are incredibly thankful for every single donation.
