Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity
It is a scheme administered by the Inland Revenue which allows St Peter & St James Hospice to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate. So, for example, if you donate £20 we can claim an extra £5, making your gift total £25.
When you make a donation to us, whether that’s a direct financial gift or a donation of items for us to sell in our charity shops, we’re able to claim back the tax that you have paid on the donation. As a charity, we don’t pay tax on most types of income, which is why the tax paid on donations we receive can be claimed back.
You simply need to be a UK taxpayer and have paid or will pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the tax that St Peter & St James Hospice, and other charities you donate to, will reclaim on your donations in a tax year.
How to sign up to Gift Aid
It’s easy to sign up – you can either tick the Gift Aid declaration when donating online, fill out the form below, download a gift aid form and bring it with you when donating items, or complete the form in one of our charity shops. This is a signed statement from you to us, confirming that you wish to donate through Gift Aid and receive tax back on your donation to St Peter & St James Hospice. The money we make through Gift Aid helps us support patients with life-limiting illnesses and those close to them across Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and surrounding areas.
