My name is Nicola, and I have the privilege of working as a nurse at St Peter & St James Hospice. Over the past six years, I have got to know and care for many people with life limiting conditions as well as supporting their relatives. Here at St Peter & St James Hospice, every person matters, and the care they receive is our highest priority.
The stunning grounds at the hospice make spending time here memorable, and never more so than in Spring, seeing the blossom on the trees bursting into life, and the colourful ribbons of remembrance that we put up around the hospice, as part of our Spring Appeal.
Remembering those we love on special occasions, milestones and seasons, is just one of the ways we keep people we miss close to us, and by dedicating a ribbon to someone you love, you will help to ensure that we can continue to provide care and support to our patients and their families, like we did for Kaye and her daughters Kerryn and Laura whose story you can read following the link below.
I am always so touched by the overwhelming love and connectivity in families when they are cared for by the hospice. We can give them the time and space to come together, to just be a family and not carers, and to support each other in a calm and quiet environment.
I could sense the love and closeness between Kaye and her daughters as they spent time together talking about their beloved Cornwall and reminiscing about the wonderful times they had spent there.
