Grants from charitable trusts and foundations are an important source of income for St Peter & St James Hospice. Many trusts support us on a regular basis and in addition to the funding they give, their confidence in our ability to deliver expert and compassionate care can help us leverage support from other
donors.

We receive funding from local and national trusts of all sizes and this year received grants ranging in
value from £100 to £25,000. A few are mentioned below and many prefer to remain anonymous.
We are grateful for all these donations which help us to deliver care to many local families, both at the hospice and in people’s own homes.

With thanks to all of the charitable trusts who supported us during 2019/20, including:

  • The Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust who donated towards nursing care costs

  • Garfield Weston Foundation who made an unrestricted donation of £25,000

  • Gatwick Airport Community Trust and the Screwfix Foundation, who donated towards a bereavement shed

  • Kytes Trust, who purchased specialist wheelchairs

  • The February Foundation, who donated towards our welfare services

  • The Sussex parish councils who gave donations to support patient transport to and from our Wellbeing Centre

  • Burgess Hill Town Council for a grant of £3,000 towards building safety improvements

  • The Sussex Masons and the Masonic Charitable Foundation who made unrestricted donations

  • D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust who contributed towards our range of wellbeing activities

  • The Jules Thorn Charitable Trust, who provided funding towards our community nursing team costs

  • The Albert Hunt Trust, who made an unrestricted donation

We’d also like to thank the charitable trusts who supported us with unrestricted donations during the Covid-19 pandemic: Souter Charitable Trust, Childwick Trust, Chalk Cliff Charitable Trust, Frances Winham Foundation, Ockenden Lodge, Borrows Charitable Trust, Laurence Misener Charitable Trust, JC Robinson Trust No4.
