Volunteer for us

Whether days or decades, minutes or months, every moment of volunteering matters. To put it simply, we would not be able to provide hospice care without the incredible support of our volunteers. Volunteers are at the heart of St Peter & St James Hospice and we're always looking for more amazing people to join our team.

Why should I volunteer at St Peter & St James Hospice?

Our volunteers love what they do and we’re confident you will too.

What will you get out of volunteering with St Peter & St James Hospice?

You’ll meet great people, learn new skills and gain work experience. Best of all, you’ll help provide expert and compassionate hospice care to patients and local families, making life that little bit easier for people at a difficult time. Why not check out our Volunteer Stories below to get some idea of all the benefits?

How do we listen to our volunteers?

We send out a frequent volunteer email newsletter to keep everyone update to date and to shine a spotlight on the amazing work that our individual and teams of volunteers do. We also welcome feedback and love hearing your ideas, which is why we hold a volunteer forum. Currently, we are also undertaking a survey of our 400 plus volunteers to see how we are are doing!

How much time do I need to commit?

We’d love you to be able to commit to a morning or afternoon a week but understand this may not work for everyone. We can be flexible and will find a role that fits with your availability and our current vacancies.
