We are so pleased to announce that one of our volunteers has won an award for her services to the local community! Pippa Venturelli has been named a Community Champion by Tisshaws Family Law Solicitors for going above and beyond.

Pippa has been volunteering with St Peter & St James Hospice for 5 years and has given her support in a number of roles, from escorting patients on the minibus, helping at the Living Well Centre and recording the lives of patients as a hospice biographer. During lockdown, Pippa also helped run reception and became a caller companion, helping support those at home who were isolated and lonely.

Pippa has told us that one of her best experiences while volunteering was helping two patients on an outing to Devil’s Dyke, to see the view, eat ice cream and make their wish come true to have a proper pint in the pub!

She has previously trained as a Speech and Language Therapist and has found these skills useful when volunteering.

Some of the best things about volunteering at St Peter & St James Hospice for Pippa have been the patients, enjoying their company and learning about their fascinating lives, and making connections and friends with other volunteers. She would definitely recommend volunteering!
