We’re delighted to share with you your summer edition of Caring magazine. In this issue we meet Dave. Dave’s wife, Augusta, was cared for at the hospice during the final months of her life. The couple shared a love of nature, so they both found it a huge relief and comfort to be looked after in the stunning setting of St Peter & St James Hospice, where we enjoy wrap-around ward gardens, vibrant and aromatic planting, a private woodland walk and two mischievous donkeys, Dudley and Dylan. Taking inspiration from the phrase ‘a garden is a friend you can visit anytime’, our dedicated volunteer gardening team have created a space that feels peaceful and calming, but also bursting with life and colour. We are so proud to have it.
We also introduce Valerie and Debbie, who run our Uckfield charity shop, share personal rituals of remembrance from across our hospice community, and tell you about some of our exciting upcoming events.
We hope you enjoy the magazine.
