Summer Appeal – This summer, help protect hospice care for local families

St Peter & St James is asking our community to help us Meet the Need this summer, so we can continue providing compassionate hospice care to patients and families when they need it most.

Across the country, hospices are facing serious financial pressures. Here at St Peter & St James, we receive only limited government funding and rely heavily on the kindness of our local community to keep our care and support free of charge.

Every day, our team cares for people living with life-limiting illness, while also supporting the families and loved ones around them. As demand for our services grows, so does our need for support. Quite simply, we cannot do this alone.

“We are so grateful for the time we had together in the last few weeks. Through your care, you enabled her to be present again as a mother, daughter, sister and friend. Without exception, you all responded to her concerns, physical symptoms, spiritual and psychological needs with reassuring calmness. After the turmoil and anguish before her admission, this also allowed us to be present for her. So, in the midst of such sadness, we found each other again. This was both beautiful and wonderful – thank you.”

This is the difference your support makes. Will you help us Meet the Need for people in our local community who need hospice care?

Hospice care is about much more than treating symptoms. We care for the whole person, offering specialist medical, emotional, spiritual and practical support, tailored to each patient and family.

Your support helps make moments of comfort, dignity and togetherness possible at an incredibly difficult time.

“I want to pay tribute to all the staff and volunteers who cared so wonderfully for my wife and I during her time at the hospice. I am in awe of people who can find so much compassion and wisdom, daily, to support people at their time of greatest need. Being at the hospice felt like we were staying with a family of friends, for whom nothing was too much trouble to make things happen”

How your gift could help

Every donation, whatever the size, helps us to continue to be there for local families. For example:

£25

Could help provide medical or personal items such as pressure relieving cushions.

£50

Could pay for three counselling sessions to support a patient.

£150

Could pay for seven hours of nursing care in our Inpatient unit.

This summer, please help us Meet the Need and protect vital hospice care for generations to come. If you are able to give, your kindness will reach someone at exactly the moment they need it. On behalf of our patients, families, staff and volunteers, thank you.
