Living with a life-limiting illness can be challenging and prevent you from doing the things that matter most to you. Our goal is to help you to live well.
Our Living Well Centre team at St Peter & St James Hospice will help you to:
- Focus on what Living Well means to you,
- Identify your concerns and priorities,
- Find ways to do the things that matter most to you.
We offer a range of activities, practical support and talking therapies and together we can identify the key issues for you and decide on the support that is most likely to be beneficial to you. This might mean that you:
- Attend one of our activity groups,
- Join a social session to meet others facing similar issues
- Meet with a nurse, occupational therapist or other professional to discuss a particular concern
We have a range of sessions and activities that occur throughout the week, or one-to-one sessions that can be arranged with the Living Well Centre team.
Writing for Wellbeing
A gently guided writing session designed to explore personal experiences and enhance wellbeing. No previous writing experience is needed.
A lively, creative session to express yourself and enjoy the company of others in a therapeutic environment. It is not an art lesson and you do not need any previous artistic experience.
The Watering Hole
A friendly, informal, sociable session where you can chat with other people. Refreshments are provided. You might like to explore our beautiful grounds and meet our donkeys.
A guided relaxation session at the Living Well Centre or at home. Explore and discover a variety of techniques to help with peaceful relaxation. Suitable for you or those who care and support you.
Ask an Occupational Therapist
Ask our Occupational Therapists for advice on day to day life and practical tasks that you find challenging. Discuss helpful and practical solutions together in a supportive environment.
Your Life, Your Story
Create a lasting memory and record a message, or life experience for loved ones with our trained Hospice Biographers. We will record and transfer to a memory stick for you to keep and share.

”The Living Well Centre helps me with my emotional needs, rather than clinical, and has become such a support. I look forward to the sessions every week, as they keep me occupied.
Our Living Well Centre is a welcoming space, with level access, set in beautiful surroundings with views of The South Downs and our own ancient woodland with an accessible path.
Whenever you visit the Living Well Centre you might wish to extend your session by a walk in the woods, lunch in the cafe or with a visit to our Donkeys, Dylan and Dudley, or simply have a cup of tea on the deck enjoying the view.
Volunteer Taxi Service
If you do not have your own transport we may be able to arrange for one of our volunteers to collect you from your home. There is no charge for this service but if you wish to contribute financially to help us with our costs then please let us know.
We have a cafe where you can purchase refreshments, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits as well as order lunch should you wish to.
We do not have carers onsite at the Living Well Centre. To attend you do need to be able to manage your own care needs, or bring someone with you who can assist you if needed. We offer many of our sessions online which can make attending easier if your care needs are best met in your own home
If you would like to attend any of the sessions or activities at the Living Well Centre, have any questions, or would like to meet a member of the team, please contact us via our contact page.
