FAQs
.
No, not at all. Everyone is welcome. Many people walk in memory of a loved one, but you’re also welcome to join simply to enjoy this magical walk in support of the hospice.
You can show your QR ticket on your phone or print it if you wish.
To ensure we maximise on the funds that you help us raise, we ask you to collect your T-shirts from the event village on the night from 4pm and you will need to bring your T-shirt collection slip from the bottom of your welcome letter.
You will receive your candle bag & in-memory star bib with your welcome letter through the post, which will be delivered at the latest two weeks before the event date. If you register after 3rd October, you will be able to collect your candle bag and in-memory star bib from the registration desk on the night.
Please car share, get dropped off or walk where possible to help us maximise on the public car parks in and around the village.
There will be additional car parking at Oathall Community College, whilst spaces permit.
Yes, the nearest train station to Lindfield Primary Academy is Haywards Heath Station and is a 28-minute walk or 3.2k. (Please consider this on top of the 3k walk you will undertake, as part of the in-memory walk.)
Dogs may be brought to the event, provided they are kept on a short lead at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and ensuring their behaviour is appropriate. You can even buy a Shine Bright bandana for your dog.
All children aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult holding a full‑price ticket.
Yes. The route is mainly along paved paths and is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There is a short section that crosses the common on grass; however, a fully paved alternative is available around the edge of the tennis courts. Please note that the pavement immediately after turning left out of the school is slightly uneven.
If you have specific accessibility needs, please get in touch with us at shinebright@stpjhospice.org and we’ll be happy to provide additional guidance and support.
We recommend comfortable walking shoes and layering up in weather‑appropriate clothing, so you can wear your T-shirt with pride over the top. While there will be ambient lighting along the route, some areas may be quite low‑lit, so bringing a torch is advised.
